BASTIANI Angel (1918-1977)
French. Pseudonym of Victor-Marie Lepage born December 2, 1918 in Toulon. It carries various professions, including that of election agent. He likes pseudonyms: Zep Cassini, Angel Gabriel, Victor St. Victor, Vic Vorlier, Luigi da Costa or Maurice Raphael. It was under him that he publishes in 1948 his first novel, published by the Scorpion: Amen, one of two things and Festival , black trilogy, soon followed by Fire and flames (1953) An off-season and (1954, repr. The All over all, 1983). On the occasion of this reissue, the literary critic Peter Lepage Drachline wrote that has used multiple aliases for an ulterior purpose: "... he only hoped his tracks and conceal his activities as head of the Gestapo department of Eure et Loire during the occupation ... " ("From the series Black Gestapo", Le Nouvel Observateur , 1983).
Lepage publish eleven books including signed Maurice Raphael cooped (1953) that attracts the attention of Andre Breton. But the failure of Fire and Flames (the adventures of a couple in the woods of Provence) led to the detective novel. He signed the following year, Stop your chariot, Ben Hur!

In addition to many new, Bastiani / Lepage has published some fifty thrillers, erotic novels, guide or hoaxes. He was awarded the 1965 suspense Returns to hell Price and black humor 1968 for the crime Breviary, a book of short stories and recipes for murdering his neighbor, published by Solar. Ange Bastiani
